The Swiss mining company Empresa Minera (Bergbau) AG announced today plans to increase its involvement in southern Chinese province of Sichuan. The Director’s Board decided to provide additional funds for the company’s mining projects.
The spokesman of the Board said: "We intend to invest to a total amount up to 25 million U.S. dollars in our Chinese projects. Interviews with officials of the Mining Ministry and other government representatives, local industry insiders and lawyers of EMAG site have led to the decision to increase the involvement. The southern Chinese province is one of Asia’s resource-rich regions. The take-over of Everloong Stone Limited in 2009 has proved to be one of the most profitable businesses in the company’s history. Further acquisitions are expected for 2010. For this purpose initially a total budget of 10 million U.S. dollars will provided in a short term. The first acquisition talks and negotiations are well under way."

The southern Chinese province of Sichuan is known as one of the world’s resource-rich regions. By opening the Chinese market for foreign investors and a growing demand (particularly from the metropolitan areas of the country) and the reduction of transport routes China's role as a supplier of raw materials will increase. "The future prospects for Empresa Minera can only be strengthened by an expansion of international engagement," said the company’s spokesman.
